At the North American International Auto Show in January of 2019, Volkswagen announced that they would be introducing an all-new, redesigned, next-generation version of their always-popular Passat midsize sedan. The company promised that the 2020 Volkswagen Passat in Green Bay WI would offer “more of what matters,” which includes a much bolder style and advanced technologies enhancing everything from convenience to driver assistance. The VW Passat has been around in North America since 1975, but back then it was known here as the Volkswagen Dasher. Then in 1982 it entered its second generation and took on another different name here in North America, this time adopting Quantum as its nameplate. In 1990 the Passat name finally took its place in the States, and it has been around ever since – excluding the 2011 model year, when it wasn’t available.

Specs & Features of the 2020 Passat

Now that an all-new 2020 VW Passat is coming to market, there are all kinds of exciting changes and new things about which to get excited. It’s design has undergone several changes to get that bolder appearance the brand promised, including things like a more dynamic profile giving the Passat a 4-door coupe vibe, a much more prominent front grille and even a new “tornado” line. When it comes to performance, the all-new Passat will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine capable of generating 174 horsepower alongside 207 pound-feet of torque. As for features, the Passat is absolutely packed with them. Available features include things like heated seats in the back, leather seating, Adaptive Front-lighting System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Park Assist and a Fender Premium Audio system. Standard features include safety technologies like Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert, entertainment features like App-Connect and design elements like the 17” aluminum-alloy wheels and full LED lighting.
